That’s my capsule review- delightfully cheesy. Especially the wizard.
Any news on how this show is doing in the ratings? I’m wondering if it will be around for more than one series of 22 episodes.
I couldn’t find info on more recent shows, but the first four eps have been doing gangbusters in the ratings. WGN saw an 80 percent increase in the time slot for the premiere episode. LoTS is outperforming almost ever show on the CW network, though I don’t know that that is such a big deal.
Here’s a link to a message forum with some data, and links to more articles with data. Unless the show has tanked over the last four eps, things are looking good for the series.
Our heroes find him & deliver him to a hidden settlement that trains children with weird powers.
Good News!

The last few episodes of the show have been getting better and better. I think the show is starting to figure out what it is.

It’s coming back for another season! It got renewed today.
It has been getting better. I really liked the episode “Puppeteer”. It shows both sides using their heads, especially Rahl. Rahl figures out their ruse almost immediately.
I like how 90% of the sword wounds don’t bleed at all. My dad says this show is a lot like how things used to be in shows and movies until the late 60s.
I know. Hercules and Xena were the same way. Is there a lot of blood on network TV?
Well, there are not a lot of sword fights, actually.
It totally is, down to the beard and ponytail that Richard sports on the book coverart.
I only caught the first couple episodes, but I was let down compared to the first book. I always imagined the quad chasing them as these Nazi supermen assassins. It’s been a while since I read any of the books, so maybe my memory is hazy.
From what I understand, the first season covers the plot of Wizard’s First Rule only, so it’ll be a while before all the kinky stuff comes into play. Maybe we’ll get to see the nekkid mud people punching each other in the face though.
It’ll also be a while until my two favorite characters, Nathan Rahl and Emperor Jagang show up.
I just saw “Puppeteer”, the episode were Zed pretends to be a puppeteer for a queen, who has the last box of Orden.
I have to say, this show is greatly improving. I think the writers are starting to figure out how to write for the actors they have cast.
I liked puppeteer, but I was disappointed with the lack of shirtless Richard. The previous one was so much better.
But in honesty, I too think the show is improving. I do not mind the differences from the book that much. I never assumed they would keep Richard imprisoned for half a season (as Terry did for half a book). It needed resolving within one episode. I’m fine with that. I’m still a bit ticked off about the changes to the Mother Confessor though.
What changes did they make to the Mother Confessor?
Well, it’s been a long time since I read the books, but from hat I can remember, everyone is in awe of Kahlan. Kings and queens bow to her. She is the only one allowed to wear long hair. She is a frigging goddess to the people. In the series, she is nothing more than an upstart, an inconvenience. Also, in the books it was important that the was the last Confessor, as all others were hunted down by Rahl.
There are more (minor) things, but in essence, the character Kahlan in the series is completely different from the one in the books.
