Legit job?

A friend of mine who had a lot of trouble finding a job, got one a a petitioner. he gets 70 cents for each signature. I am thinking of trying this. Is it legitimate?

Yes. I did a lot of political type stuff like collecting signatures back in college. I only made enough for beer money.

I guess it depends on the company, but there are legit petitioner jobs. Many years ago I did a few. Basically you got paid per qualified name, and we got a bonus if we hit a certain amount (like $.25 a name, then 25.00 if we hit 100 names, then you got .50 for each name beyond 100). As mentioned above, it got us beer money, but some people really hustled and made some okay money. There can be an ethical dilema depending on what you’re petitioning for (sign here to make Louisiana pay BP for all the free oil they’re receiving!).

Good luck!

The job itself is legal, but your friend should do a background check on the company he is wanting to work for to see if they have been reported for questionable practices, such as misrepresentation of petitions or fake names.

I called them myself, they said its the Humane Society. Its to stop animal cruelty on farms.

It’s too bad the census is over. They were paying 18 bucks an hour to the census workers plus travel time.

The US Census isn’t over. It’s actually just starting with the personal visits. They just don’t have any more jobs to fill. Also, the wages differed depending upon location.

Is the Humane Society running the petition operation themselves, or are they doing it on behalf of the Humane Society?

Behalf, I believe. The company is called DRW out of Michigan, I think. I went to orientation.
