I’m with faithfool it was the hair, long towhead blond hair. Not having watched Behind the Music, except for the one on Styx, and having just read the the wikipedia Kalhoun posted I’m sorry to see that he has made such a mess of his life. In my head he had been a perpetual 16 year old with long hair and sparkly shoes.
The best thing he’s done in 30 years was the end of Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star (an abysmal movie [evidence: it starred David Spade and didn’t have Christ Farley] but with a great end credits video. YouTube.
Check out this funny YouTube clip of a young Leif on The Dating Game:

I’m 44, so I was right in the middle of the Leif-loving demographic. I not only didn’t have a crush on him, but I thought he was quite unattractive. I thought the same thing of John Travolta. I couldn’t figure out what girls saw in him. Then again, I was a weird kid–I had a huge crush on George Hamilton in “Love at First Bite” just a little bit later (late 70s).
Same here :o
Is he Kate Hudson’s father, or is it one of his brothers?
I remember Leif Garrett being plastered all over magazines, but never had a crush on him. I also remember being suspicious - it seemed like the “teen idols” were being dictated to us by the magazines, and I didn’t know anyone who was a genuine fan of those cover boys.
Yes, Bill Hudson is Kate Hudson’s father, although Hudson and Goldie Hawn divorced when Kate was about eighteen months old. She was raised by Goldie and her longtime lover, Kurt Russell. Kate Hudson has said that her biological father “doesn’t know her from a hole in the wall,” and that she considers Russell to be her real father.
I only remember him from an episode of Wonder Woman, which was on right before The Incredible Hulk. Other than the fact that was playing a rock star of some kind, I never really knew he was a real singer.
