hay guise i was wondering if anyone could advise me. yeah i know advice isn’t part of general questions but bear with me.
a good friend of mine is already doing something called “the lemonade diet”. from what little i was reading at the website it seems like nothing but horsehockey. it claims that the dieter gets all their nutrients from the lemonade, maple syrup and red pepper.
WHAT? Again, WHAT?
am i right in thinking that this diet is just going to flush away water weight, that the diet is simply going to slow the metabolism and once the program is complete then they’re going to balloon up because the metabolism is slower than a snail in molasses in december?
would anyone let me know the other deleterius effects which would come from such a diet? i mean she’s not anorexic by any stretch of the imagination but i know she’s harming herself for short-term gain.
there i hope i made this post factual enough.
What this diet seems to describe is basically a juice fast. It is not a diet as nobody can stay on it more than a few weeks - there is no protein or fat in this diet!
It is not sustainable, will lower your metabolism, and the claims of removing toxins from your body is bunk. Your liver and kidneys do that, lemonade and maple syrup won’t.
No offense intended, but is there a reson you don’t capitilize “I” or the first words of your sentences? It makes them hard to read, less people read, fewer answers.
I’m sitting twenty feet from a co-worker who tried this diet last month. She stuck with it for 30 hours before it made her sick as all hell and she quit. Now she has more maple syrup than she knows what to do with. I mean, a little of that shit goes a long way.
No cite, and, not that this is typical, but Robin Quivers (Howard Stern’s sidekick) swears that this worked for her and that she lost all of the weight that she needed to. I’ve also heard that this works if you eat healthily all month, then use this diet for a week. Who knows, just a couple of iffy answers for you.
I did this fast for 10 days once before. I didn’t do it to lose weight but it did make me feel lean and alert. (My body was always on the alert for some real food probably!) Since I regularly eat a diet of Doritos and Mike and Ike’s I think it was good for my body to have a bit of a “break.” For several weeks after I stopped fasting I craved whole foods and vegetables - instead of nachos and cheese pizza. But of course, I gradually returned to my old ways.
