When I was in my teens shorts were worn to mid thigh. For men at least. Then around the mid 80’s they came back down to the knees. Like Wally Cleaver wore in the 50’s. Then came baggy pants. Now it seems shorts are mid ankle. We would call them floods back then.
Why does this fashion stay for men. The only thing I can think of is kids are fatter now and it makes them look better.
(as a complete off topic aside. Daisy Dukes were NEVER meant to be worn by men - straight or gay. Heck not many women can pull them off)
Mark: EVERY kid I know wears baggy clothes, fat or thin. It’s just the style. I’m a fat guy, but I would wear baggy clothes anyway even if I were stick thin, because that’s just how I like my casual clothes (my nice clothes actually fit)
Anyway, My preference for shorts is down to the knees. I do not wear them any lower than that. I agree the to the ankles thing looks like high waters. But, I’ve never seen kids here wearing anything lower than down to the knees.
I agree. On men it just looks stupid (if they want something that high, they might as well just go running around in a paor of briefs). The name that we called daisy dukes on men was “nut cutters”.
I also remember a comedy show where a comic was talking about seeing a guy in a club wearing them, and noticing that if they were any shorter, his testicles would fall out.
It’s worth the risk of burning, to have a second chance…
