I don’t watch late night TV nowadays. Was a huge fan of Conan on Late Night.
If i do watch something it’s Letterman, Ferguson and Conan on youtube. Never liked Leno’s brand of humour and still don’t. His bits can be mildly entertaining like headlines and jaywalk but I wouldn’t tune into him for bits or interviews of people i’d like to see.
I think I find Letterman/Ferguson/Conan more engaging interviewers and would watch them on occasion if they had a star i’d like to see. I used to watch Kilborn when he was on too. I used to love Late Night when Andy Richter was around more so then when he wasn’t. Conan’s stuff is stale too like his puppet dance and licking his finger and caressing his nipple. All in all i’d watch Letterman over all the others if I had a choice and wanted to watch something at late night, i’m a channel surfer though, you need to keep me entertained or I switch fast.
I pretty much quit watching the Tonight Show when Carson retired. Leno was OK to watch every now and then, but he kept getting lamer and lamer. Photoshopping a picture does not automatically make it funny. Leno and/or his writers depend too much on gimmicks, rather than actual humor.
I said I used to watch but no longer do, but that’s not entirely accurate. I occasionally check them out online, but I haven’t been able to get NBC on my TV since just before the digital transition.
Still, neither show is as good as the Tonight show was when Jay was on it, nor when Conan was on Late Night. Oh, and my preferences go Furgusen > [TS] Leno > Conan > Kimmel > [Jay Show] > Fallon > [TS Conan] > Letterman.
Conan has gotten alot funnier on the Tonight Show since this whole feud got started. I watched him religiously on Late Night and was a devout fan. After a week or two at the tonight show, he seemed to be less funny. I think that’s because he’s attempting to appeal to a larger demographic and he’s on earlier so alot of his comedy can’t be used.
I for one think that if he got moved to midnight again, it would be the best thing for him. He can be a hell of a lot funnier late at night. YMMV
I used to watch both the Tonight Show and Late Night. Now I watch Leno’s show and the Tonight Show. I was happy with the arrangement because I don’t have to stay up until 1am anymore, since the only thing I really watch on both shows were the monologues and the first comedy bit
