Totally untrue. If you have watched Conan for the past fifteen years, you would have noticed that a good portion of his monologues contained more than a few minutes of ‘political humor’
With his move to California, he actually built up his political writing
Conan took great pride in having his Late Night monos quoted in Time magazine. You need to realize that he can be quite self depracating in interviews, that is his showbizpersona- he is a driven guy who prides himself on his political knowledge.
As far as his move to TBS goes, think outside the box here.
Network TV is on the ropes , it’s taking the count. Cable itself right now is poised to take off. Look for COB to really make some money here for TBS.
Not saying that he alone is going make this happen, but look for him
to do for cable comedy, what Edward R Morrow did for network news. The rules of the game have changed and cable will become temporarly the new broadcast media… big time.
