I’m glad no one was killed. It is senseless to start shooting when it isn’t necessary. Call for backup follow the guy, bring the guy down cuff him etc etc. But don’t shoot him dead. This country is way too trigger happy.
A select few of our uniformed court bailiffs are qualified in taser use. I asked one if he had to be tased himself as part of the training, and he said they don’t do that anymore due to liability concerns. I suppose this varies from department to department.
Cops whose cars or weapons are stolen by suspects can be disciplined or even fired, depending on the situation.
I’d be surprised if the truck driver at the end was not seriously injured, or killed. He was hit in the driver side front panel by a vehicle travelling way beyond reckless speed. That’s worst-case scenario when it comes to vehicle collision, with the possible exception of roll-over/ejection accidents.
