Let a Tragedy be a Tragedy, what are your thoughts on this statement?

Oh, so now he’s attacking the kids themselves? Whatever happened to that “Respect the victims” bit he was on about earlier?

Clearly, he doesn’t actually give a crap about the victims, he’s just looking for an excuse to shut them up. Time to tell him to bugger off.

Said moron needs to accept that his position is also an “agenda”. The dead don’t have an opinion, but the people who lived through the tragedy–and the families of the people killed–have an opinion, and it’s a bit more informed his, given that they’re living directly with the effects of gun violence.

He’s scared because this time the “agenda” seems to be gaining traction, finally. This has nothing to do with respecting the dead. It’s about using the dead to try to silence the living.

Only because we don’t have a major political party that opposes airline safety regulations. If one party said stuff like “this is not the time to talk about airline safety,” “the only way to make air travel safer is to give airlines more flexibility in aircraft maintenance” and “planes don’t crash, bad pilots do”, you can be sure that it will become politicized.

You’ve started at least one other thread about arguments/debates you’ve had on Twitter, Facebook, or some other social media. My sincere suggestion is that if you want to have a reasonable debate, don’t do it on those platforms.

Or with those antagonists.

I’m not gonna try with this idiot. He believes Abe Lincoln fought for equality.

So the whole “Now is not the time to talk about gun control” is an amusing though silly rhetorical trick. Basically each time there’s a mass shooting, lots of the pro-gun politicians say this meaningless line, since essentially they don’t want to hold an argument when emotions are high and they are definitely going to lose.

So what happens when mass shootings start occurring every week? It’ll never be the time to talk about stopping them then, since we’ll always be “reeling from an unavoidable tragedy”.

Don’t forget “if everyone had a plane, everyone would be safe”. Only way to stop a plane crashing and hurting someone is to be in your own plane that didn’t crash and/or shoot down the crashing plane with your armament.

This isn’t a debate. Given the tone of the OP I’m not inclined to move it to MPSIMS so the Pit is where I’d normally send it. But given the half baked nature of these types of post, I’m just going to close this.

If you’d like to debate, then feel free to start a debate. The form: XX said YY, you guys argue is not good debate fodder. This one as did the other thread I just closed also carries with it well poisoning and insults to one side of the proposition.
