Is there an equivalent to Katie Bates in England? Or how about a mean Dame Edna?
Question that is slightly OT, but I don’t want to start another thread. Why can’t Harry see the thestrals from day one?
He saw his parents killed when he was age one, no?
things I hope they keep in the next film:
The bit about that shop where the “couples” go and have tea.
The DA–has to be in (of course, I’ve said that about so much and most of it’s been cut in past films…<sigh>)
The Dursley’s need to be in this film-BECAUSE of the Vow made by Petunia–that resonates into the last book. Also, I love them–they are so horrible nasty, Aunt Marge in particular.
eleanorigby, Rowling has explained that the ability to see thestrals comes once a witch or wizard has both observed the death, and psychologically processed the fact that she or he has witnessed the extinguishing of a human life.
Baby Harry couldn’t. Fourteen-year old Harry needed a few weeks following the night in the maze.
Actually, baby Harry didn’t see his parents die, he only saw the Avada Kedavra curse that rebounded on Voldemort. The internal processing idea was to explain why Harry couldn’t see the Threstrals at the end of GoF. (real answer: so that she didn’t annoy thousands of readers by introducing these weird horse-things and then not explaining them for 3 years.)
