Let the poor woman die already!

At least for Sunday.
This item though, deserves an explanation:

As if this situation could not get even weirder, something is wrong here: If the church already gave the last rites to Terry, it is not sacrilegious to then allow what remains to receive communion?

I humbly submit that it is precisely because it is worth more than a potted plant that her wishes not to be kept alive like this be respected. Good grief, she was uncomfortable with the thought of how her grandmother death was prolonged and pointlessly forced off at great harm to her dignity and comfort, and that was relatively quick.

I submit that you don’t have a clue about what it’s like when someone actually dies. I submit that msot of the protestors are in denial about death, what it’s like, and and the hard choices you face when people start losing mental function, much less entire sections of their brain.

Come on down to the palliative care ward sometime, maybe you losers will learn something.

I was wondering how this thread has kept on going. Now I know. Was it this thread where someone called it “arguement by attrition?” So many of them I can’t even keep them straight.

Milroyj, I don’t know how long you’ve been at this so I’m going to try to be polite. Just read this thread and some of the other threads on this subject. It’s not as if this point of yours hasn’t been hashed out a time or two. Please take a look around, get yourself edumacated a smidge, and then come back.

And please stop accusing those of us in these threads of simply wanting to kill Mrs. Schiavo. It’s idiotic.

milroyj is a newcomer. Most of the “save her” crowd has posted briefly and then gone away. I hope that that means they have learned what’s going on, and not merely that they can’t be bothered. I do note that the traditionally conservative but intelligent crowd has stayed away from these threads. The closest to fact based argument that I’ve seen anywhere came from bricker, and he seems to have decided it’s not worth fighting.

Oh Jesus Christ!

You know what that audio clip reminds me of? When I was severely, severely depressed. One night I started screaming and couldn’t stop. At the end of it, I sounded like that. shudder

If she was aware, I’d interpret that as saying, “Dad, shut the fuck up already! Jesus Christ!”

(Is that the famous “Aaaahhhhhh waaaaaaa” supposedly, “I want to live!”)

That’s beyond ghastly.

Could somebody explain to me how that is the sound of someone who wants to live?

That is an older clip, probably the same vintage as the videotapes. I remember it from a visit to the Schindler site a few years back.

The “AAAAHH WAAAA” quote was not taped, only witnessed. I suspect it wasn’t much different.

Wow. I take that back. Look at the date in the title of the clip.

It does sound just like the one from a few years back though.

The real head-scratcher is that this audio was released by the Schindlers to support their argument that Terri is conscious and responsive. Apart from being heart-wrenchingly horrifying, it’s quite obviously unarticulated vocalizing, conforming to the rhythm of her breathing. Mr. Schindler interjects his questions in between them. Who does he expect that to fool? Is he fooling himself?

The lack of released audio of Terri “responding” to questions about her desire to continue in this state suggests that they would be even less convincing than that horrorshow, and the Schindlers and their advisors know it.

Yes, we do. But what is the need for Mrs. Schiavo to die now? So her husband can live in peace with his shack-up honey? Or what?

The whole mess is disgusting, selfish, repugnant, and evil. The fact that the majority of this board disagrees says a lot more about you than it does about me.

If this is what we come down to, as a people, may God have mercy on our souls.

Peace, out. :frowning:

What’s preventing him from living with her now? Nothing. I thought he already was living with her and that was the proof that he’s an evil cheat or something. The need for her to die ‘now’ is that the court ruled her wishes were not to be kept alive in this absurd manner. Five years ago. Unless you’re saying that doesn’t matter for some reason.

I agree. It says that most of the people here are intelligent, compassionate and if nothing else, reasonable, and you’re an idiot.

That that is your argument says a lot about you, milroyj. A lot.

I can’t help but agree. You took the words right out of my keyboard.

widdley

He had the option of taking the 10 million dollars offered to him to just divorce Terri and walk away from this. It looks like Mr. Schiavo truly believes he is honoring Terri’s wishes in all of this. I can see no other motivation.

It’s not just the majority of the board, it’s a majority of the country. Tough being in a minority, isn’t it?

I’m curious. What do you think it says about me?

That you are both ignorant about the case specifically and ignorant about the type of case in general. Why? What did you think I meant that it said about you?

Not at all, when you are right.

Then why the frowny face?

An interesting post from another thread:
