Dude, it’s been 15 years since he’s heard her voice, seen the light in her eyes, had her hold his hand, or laugh, or be the Terri that he fell in love with and married. Do you think you could continue to hold a passionate flame for FIFTEEN YEARS for someone who is functionally dead? Would you think it’s mentally or emotionally healthy to carry a torch for someone like that? Would YOU expect your spouse to never be in love with anyone again, should (og forbid) something happen to you?
Can you understand that it’s still possible, however, to CARE for that same person, in a heartfelt and meaningful way, and still not be passionately ‘in love’ with them? She shared a part of his life. He’s caught in a tug-of-war where he still cares enough for Terri to want to see that her wishes are carried out, but he’s HAD to move on from the part of his life where they were functionally husband and wife, sharing their intimate love with each other. We’re not talking about an ‘on or off’ switch where he’s either passionately devoted to Terri, or doesn’t give a fuck about her anymore.
I’ll say this - I’m 31, and this issue has damn well made me express, in no uncertain terms, to my family and my long-term boyfriend that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES am I to be left in a vegetative state out of some concern for ‘right to life’. I’m in the process of drawing up my will, and my living will, and will be meeting with an attorney next week to finalize the whole thing.
They do, I told them before I went under the knife for my hysterecomy in October of 2003, just in case something went wrong, like I had a reaction to the anestheasia or some such. They know I don’t want to be kept alive in a persistent vegatative state, and to let me go if I’m found to be brain dead. If it’s “just” a coma, they know I’d want them to try and let me come out of it, as long as I would come back to a decent level of funtionality, and not be a vegetable or only waste away and die in pain later.

Whatever the timeline is, and whoever he is involved with, the bottom line hard truth is that all the doctors who have evaluated her (and not just looked at a heavily edited videotape) says that there is no hope of recovery. She’s got enough brain left to breath. That’s not life, that’s existing.
ABC is reporting that their affiliate in Tampa says the tube has been pulled. No confirmation yet.
Funny, my cite had the award listed at $1M, $700k of which went to her care. The rest likely went towards legal fees to fight off her truly disturbed parents.
That also contradicts nothing that the doctors that have examined Terry Schiavo in person have said regarding her inability to recover. And can we please stop referring to Jodi Centzone as the mistress/new chick/whatever. It’s idiotic.
It was a little over ONE million and the money went to her care, dude. You also seem to have missed the posts where people informed you that Michael Schiavo has turned down offers in excess of 10 million dollars to divorce her and walk away?
You’re getting misinformation about this case. Michael stands to gain nothing monetarily from Terri’s death but could gain substantially for walking away. He doesn’t have a “mistress,” by the way. He has a family.
This is way beyond getting misinformation. emarkp and his ilk have been given plenty of cites in the two current Pit threads to learn what the actual facts of the case are. They are not interested in facts. This is willful, obstinate, and foolish misrepresentantion. This is lying.
Why? I don’t get it. They claim the guy wants money, but he’s turned money down. They claim that doctors feel she can get better, but there’s no way she can get better. They claim that starving her is inhumane, but she’s not aware and can’t feel anything because of her condition.
There’s been several posters who have described similar cases with their family members. There’s been doctor and nurse posters who have described in detail Terry’s condition and what it means…in both on-going threads.
What are posters who ignore that information trying to accomplish?
