I’m gonna miss all the Terri Schiavo related threads.
Hopefully in a few days, after all the current threads fall off the front pages, someone will start a “Terri Schiavo: Still Dead” thread.
The Vatican announced that the Pope is going to check on Terri’s condition personally very soon, and I don’t mean he’s going to Florida. 
I raised a glass to her as soon as I heard. Rest in peace, Terri.
I’m afraid that all the screaming and shit flinging this week may only get worse now that she’s died.

After a valiant struggle, Terri Schiavo is still dead tonight…
Anybody care to speculate as to how many days will pass before the name “Schiavo” is not mentioned on CNN, FOX, et.al. ? I pick a week from this Saturday (enough time for the funeral, autopsy, etc., to be over and done with).
And what’s with these protestors outside the Hospice? Do these people not have jobs? It must be nice not having to work. Maybe Randall Terry has a couple of dozen folks on retainer to show up whenever he feels like sticking his nose in other people’s business.
According to CNN this morning, the hospice had asked the family to leave, as they were about to run some tests to determine her condition.

On CLTV, I heard a talking head said that with the advances in genetic engineering, there would be no limit to the number of cases like Terri’s in the future.
After laughing manically, I lunged at the TV and…turned it off.
WTH does genetic engineering have to do with brain cells deprived of oxygen just that much too long?
HOW deep IS the ignorance in this country?
I also heard of a bill in Lousiana re: not permitting “food deprivation” from any who cannot speak for themselves.
All I can think of is all those babies, all those Alzheimer and Parkinson pts—as well as the PVS ones-everyone who cannot speak for themselves, yet may have given some indication to loved ones to not prolong their lives artificially…won’t matter a damn, apparently.
Have we gone mad?
PS-I am “pro” Michael, but do think it shitty that the brother and sister were told to leave the room 10 minutes prior to her death. Then again, noone knew when she would die, and also, given the rest of the hysteria present, I figure I’ll wait for the whole story…
How was MS to know that TS was going to die in 10 minutes?
It’s more likely they were taking turns as usual and it happened to be his turn when she died.
In my personal experience of sitting with my dad while he died in a fashion similar to the TS situation, he just quietly stopped breathing at one point. There was nothing to alert us that something was about to happen.
Perhaps an analysis will also be done on Jesse Jackson, the result being that both of them are bereft of functional brain tissue.
So I wan’t the only one thinking this then. Good.

Still, hopefully the whole lot of them will now be able to move on & grieve. I doubt it will happen but its what they need.
Im happy for Teri, no matter what happens after you die it has got to be better than watching your husband and parents tear each other up over national TV!
