I think Alan Colmes just told Randall Terry he needed mental health counseling! I knew I liked that guy (Alan).
You know, I’ll bet certain folks who backed the Schindlers on this are starting to look at this situation the way the baffled protagonists of H.P. Lovecraft stories begin to look at ancient tomes of unimaginable power. So tempting to try, but once you’re in you realize that untold eldritch horrors can be unleashed…
Yes, it would have-not because she was being tortured, but because she deserved her dignity-not her parents flashing those horridly humiliating videos and photos and audio clips.
You should know better than to listen to Fox fucking News. (Although I’m watching now, if only because Jay Wolfson (the guardian ad litem) is on talking to Hannity and Colmes. When he leaves, I’m switching).
Ooh! Alan’s gonna get a spanking from Sean tonight for that one…
I heard the same thing and all I could think was, “What? Are you prepared to wait for nano-technology to rebuild her missing cerebral cortex from her DNA?” That technology’s a long way off and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Terry and his ilk oppose it, based on the opposition to stem cell research.
Fortunately, not long afterwards, I heard something new and pleasant. People who actually knew Terry Schiavo, the human being talking about her and what she was like, including the boy who moved in next to her when she was 4 years old. Another friend, a woman, talked about Ms. Schiavo telling her about how she had a date with a guy named “Michael.” Michael Schiavo was apparently her first serious boyfriend. Despite what a coworker of mine believes about him, I think Ms. – no, make that Mrs. Schiavo did very well indeed!
Terry Schiavo, may your body join your soul in resting in peace.

Wacky doesn’t even come close. Remember, this guy was so nutty his own militia kicked him out.
Makes one wonder what exactly he would’ve done had he taken her to a safe house. Tried to reinsert the feeding tube himself or just choked her on bread and water.
In the end it’s just more hollow bluster from a spotlight seeking attention whore.
Your words are too kind. I just can’t think of any that are vile and vicious enough.
He’s not worth any venom. The man was never going to try to break in to the hospice. He’s the sort of guy who threatens violence, backs down when someone stands up to him, and tells his friends that he would’ve kicked the guys ass but didn’t want to get arrested for it.
There are so many more people in this whole mess that deserve so much more than Norm Olsen.
So in the end, everybody wins.
So do you figure that all the people who took vows to fast until she was hooked back up to the feeding tube will go through with it and starve? Now that would be some serious conviction.
As well as a sure entry in the Darwin Awards.
Not to mention a useful cleansing of the gene pool.
Sort of an ethic cleansing, really…
Was she Catholic? If so, by defying her wishes as found by 19 different judges, her religious freedom was denied, by the parents and the feds.
The pope’s 1980 declaration on euthanasia said that one need not use disproportionately burdensome measures to sustain life. Even if the treatment is in place, if it proves burdensome it can be removed.
Church doctrine is that one is not morally obliged to undergo any intervention.
If anyone’s interested, David Rees has some commentary on the Schiavo case mixed in among the blunt, angry dark humor in his latest strips:
