Skydive101 yep I will be at the game tonite. I will be the one in a Ducks jersey, blond hair, upper deck, cheering for the home team. You can’t miss me. For the prior games I was wearing my Ice Dogs sweatshirt (Ice Dogs are a minor league hockey team playing in Long Beach–I love minor league hockey, where else can you see good hockey, cheesy mid-period stuff, and have pigeons fly across the arena in the middle of the game).
You won’t believe what Ticketmaster did. I was ordering my tickets for the game and I finally got thru and click click click was moving thru the process of ordering them. At the last click it gave me the screen “cannot process your order”. I thought “blast!” so I checked to make sure I didnt’ receive that email thanking me for my order and since I hadn’t I got 2 tickets for that game and 2 for game 6. Well I received 3 emails saying they had printed my tickets and would be mailing them. Oh, oh. So yesterday I got fed-exed 3 packages and sure enough I got 4 tickets for tonite’s game. (I am so glad I paid the $14.95 for mailing rather than the $2.50 to allow my printer to print the tickets) I have found someone at work who bought the tickets after many fantic phone calls, but I now have a solid reason to understand my mistrust of the “print your own tickets” service they provide.
I would like to see a good game tonite, so let’s hope Minnesota brings their A game but with the Duckies being the ultimate victor.
WooHoo! They are gonna give us Fowl Towels tonite rather than the Thunderstixs. I loved the Thunderstixs during the Angels playoffs, but that was cause we had something to prove, that Anaheim could be as loud as the Metrodome (if not louder). But they are just irritating at a hockey game.
[singsong voice]
I’m gonna get a Fowl Towel, neener neener

Hey Deb2world if that happens again and you need to get rid of some tix, just let me know. I’d love to go see them play again this year. My email is in my profile, have fun tonight! I’ll be watching for ya from the comfort of my couch. It shouldn’t be too hard to find you, I’m sure you’ll be the only person not wearing a Wild jersey. Doh!
This is getting a little absurd at this point. I mean, all honor to JS Giguere, but hot fuckin’ christ, I think he should let the Wyld at least get a mercy goal or something. I started feeling bad last night, as I watched towards the end of the second period, and the Ducks basically gave up playing defense, the Wyld got chance after chance, and NO GOALS.
A freakin’ Stanley Cup final being played in Anaheim. Go figure.
What hasn’t been said in the press about the Ducks?
Giguere is 10-2 thus far, is setting both personal and professional records, and the team in front of him is playing flawless hockey.
Should Jiggy be able to post another shutout he’ll be in rare company as the goalie with the longest post season shut-out streak… ever.
Wyld - I don’t think he’s in the mood for dispensing mercy and the Sens and Devils must have Jiggy on their minds as they look forward to playing in the final.
Unless of course, the Wild decide they want to make a little history of their own and make another comeback. The last team to come back from three 3-1 deficits were the '75 Islanders.
Sergei Brylin should be the first star of every game in which he plays. I’m not just talking about the goal; every shift he gave it all up on both ends of the ice, as usual. I love how Langenbrunner played tonight also. Lastly, I didn’t realize how ugly that scumbag Chara was until he took that really smart penalty in the second period and they zoomed in on his face. Yikes. My ex-girlfriend used to say how hockey players are all hot, but holy mackerel, his face is a damn train wreck.
I still hope that Ottawa wins. Think of it. A Canada-USA Stanley Cup. Two countries that are basically brothers with alot of the same culture but have been known to have a disagreement or two.
The representative for Canada is a team that has some dominate European players while the USA contestant has as their playoff hero a Canadian player. Ottawa is the poor stepchild of hockey in a country that reveres the sport but gives more honor to the Canucks, Canadiens or Maple Leafs. Anaheim isn’t even on the hockey radar in the states. So hockey fans from each country will be selecting their national team. Think of it–New Yorkers rooting for Anaheim.
[SUB] yes I do have a strange sense of humor, why do you ask. [/SUB]
New Yorkers wouldn’t watch at all. And more importantly, the matchup is better if it’s Devils/Ducks; additionally, who would’ve thought that the Sykora/Friesen+Tverdovsky trade would prove the most profound of this postseason?
I wouldn’t refer to any of those losers as “dominant” now that they have to play against a quality team. We’ll just see what happens tonight.
Fuck Jason Spezza, and Marian Hossa’s family dog. Jay Pandolfo is Bugs Bunny to Gaylime’s portrayal of Marvin the Martian.
I’m still hoping for Ottawa as well, but they got to get by Brodeur at home tonight. So far this playoffs the Devils are 8-0 at Continental Airlines Arena so it’s not looking good.
The Senators ain’t dead yet, folks. They’re going to bring the A game tonight.
I still have hope of the Grail coming to Ottawa, a city where, unlike whatever municipality the Devils play in, they actually sell out third round playoff games.
Not that it’s any worse than Kanata, but what city is East Rutherford a suburb of, anyway? Considering how Canadian fans are treated there, I’m guessing it ain’t a nice one.
Well, all of Northern NJ, Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties of NY, and all of Western CT are essentially “suburbs” of NYC, so…
It’s like this: along the coast next to the mighty Hudson River which divides NY from Jersey, you’ve got Dirty City, Hoboken, Weehawken, West New York, Edgewater, Fort Lee. The area where the Meadowlands (which also has a racetrack, Giants Stadium in addition to the aforementioned CAA) is located is basically a magical place where all there is is highways.
I don’t think that Canadian fans are treated any worse than fans of any opposing team playing there, but I could be incorrect (bear in mind that Giants fans have been known to beat the living daylights out of people who wear opposing teams’ jerseys at Giants Stadium).
