Let The Quest for the Grail Begin!

What’s this ?

There’s going to be a game seven ?

Brodeur got yanked ?

Kariya survived after being pounded by Stevens ?

Kariya scored ?

Heh heh heh … the Devils never knew what hit them.

All Anaheim has to do on Monday is to pretend they’re playing on the Pond and they’ll be hoisting the cup.

Anaheim and logic. Let me think, game 6 of the World Series, won by the Angels. Game 6 of the Stanley Cup, won by the Ducks. Remind me, who won that great game 7 of the 2002 World Series. Oh yes, it was ANAHEIM, so we can use logic and know that the Duckies have a HUGE advantage in game 7. Stanley Cup’s home for 2003/04 will be The Pond. I like the sound of “2003 Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Mighty Ducks”.

Once again we have a game move into bestest game ever winner. The crowd was great, we had so much fun. I will be going to the Pond to watch game7. I made some friends at the game and we are gonna go there and par-tay the cup coming home (you put a couple of soda pops in me and I am an animal).

Before the game started they showed Angels WS game 6 highlights, especially Speizio’s homerun. Plus they showed a monkey in a Duck shirt. Both got the crowd energized and ready for another miracle game. Everyone I have talked to at the Ducks games also were at the Big Ed for the WS, so they knew what can happen in Anaheim.

When Kariya was laying on the ice, you could have heard a pin drop. When he returned to the ice you couldn’t hear yourself think. Anaheim is proving itself a true hockey town.
ninjas you are so cute deb pinches his/her cheek**. I will try and remember that I am watching a “manly” sport snicker and not notice all of the women in the crowd in a city that hasn’t seen snow in like forever deb tosses hair in Valley girl style Bwahaha.

I can’t wait to go to the victory parade. Actually that should be parades, one at the pond and a couple at the Happiest Place on Earth. I am so excited I know I won’t be able to sleep well this nite.

Ducks! Ducks! Ducks!

It’s just as well that the Devils didn’t win on Saturday because I was stuck getting back from the Belmont, and didn’t get back home til real late. But, the night was exciting because my out-of-town buddy almost got arrested for pukin’ on the platform in the PATH station. I nearly fell down I was laughing so hard.

Should be a classic Game 7, but again, I like the Devils at home (yeah, like I’d say anything else).

SportsCenter showed highlights of all of Stevens’ hits from prior playoff years (Lindros, the hits from the ‘Canes debacle last year, and then the Kariya hit) and it caused me to have a premature ejaculation. What is it about someone getting in a monster clean hit that gets your blood pumpin’? It’s like when you’re a wyld out-of-control teen and you like breaking stuff.

deb, the thing that you’re forgetting is that baseball sucks, and that even though the Gayngels won last year, that is meaningless. Also, how could you refer to the YankeesNet empire as anything more evil than Disney? Michael Eisner is currently under investigation for accepting an offer for the aforementioned Gayngels that was 20 mill. less than another offer. Wait, that’s not evil, that’s retarded, sorry.
DEVILS!!!

The term for a woman who follows hockey for the cute guys (or their large paycheck) is a puckbunny. Are your ears showing, Deb?

Anyways back to the game. Here’s a little game 7 history.

This is the 12th game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals. The home team has a record of 9-2.

If the Devils win (Go Devils!), it will be the first time since 1965 (and third time ever) that the home team won every game of the series. If the Ducks win, it will be the first time since 1971 (and third time ever) that the road team won game 7. Ironically, the Canadiens beat the Blackhawks in both 1971 and 1965.

Either way, someone’s going to hoist the Cup tonight. Game on…

… and deb is such an adorable little puckbunny isn’t she?

I want to see Steve Thomas hoist the Grail tonight.

Kariya’s stones just went from peas to plums after getting up after that hit and putting one up on the board. If you don’t think his team is jacked now, just wait and watch tonight. As Rucchin said afterward, “I expect to see Paul do that again in Game 7.”, I know the Ducks can overcome the home-ice advantage tonight. Devils, can you say “Avalanche in 7… (aka 2001 debacle!)” Stumpy hoisting the cup is nice, but Kariya (the franchise for the entire existence of the Ducks) pumping it up over the shoulders is the ultimate rub on all of the east coast and canadian clubs. You clowns need some more humiliation.

DUCKS!

Ducks! Ducks! Ducks!

I’ll let you in on a little secret. I am around men all of the time. I work in what is considered a man’s world – engineering. I enjoy seeing them get all rilled up and have found that if I talk about the cuteness of players I can almost see their hackles rising. It makes me laugh. During the football season I propose my “cute helmet theory” and never fail to trap someone who takes sports a little too serious (especially those who watch football for gambling purposes only). I love sports, I am passionate about my team but I do remember that for me it is just a game that allows me to use my “outside voice”.

I watch sports with my mom, My mom knows the rules, can talk about the plays and is the first to spot a wedgie on the field. She is 76 yrs old been married to dad for 58 yrs, is a great, great grandma and has a wicked sense of humor.

The Ducks have to be highly motivated to win game 7. They have to keep up with the boys on the other side of the freeway. The buzz about the Ducks is loud. Everywhere I go people are talking about them. They are rooting them on. People are making plans to be home to watch as much game as they can. Puck fever has hit the beach.

Go Ducks! Do it on the road!

Not only do I want to see Thomas hoist the cup, I want to see him win it for them in DOUBLE OT!!!

Only teasing, Deb. Actually, I’m jealous. You have a reasonably attractive coach. The Wings’ coach looks like Hitler.(And I’m a her, not a him. Couldn’t you tell from my incredibly girly name?)

Cups close to where it belongs (it belongs on Long Island with the Islanders, but I’ll settle for the Devils…as long as it’s not the Rangers (where it won’t be for a very long time))

WOOHOO!!

Booing Guigere for winning the Conn Smythe?!

Reeeeeeealll classy, Jersey fans.

I’m sorry, but Jiggy crying? That just bothered me. I can’t even put into words how that made me feel. What a damn baby.

Congratulation to the Devils on winning the Stanley Cup. Congrats to Jiggy on the Conn Smythe trophy, he was the reason the Ducks made it to the finals. Both teams played good hockey.

Bugger.

“…and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee are the CHAMPIONS, my friends…”

Yo, as far as booing the Conn Smythe winner, we don’t really have anything to compare that to; I mean, yeah, Jersey fans are rabid and violent towards other teams, but who would be happy about the other team’s guy winning when your guy pitched 3 shutouts in the finals? And yes, I know that the Conn Smythe is for a performance throughout the playoffs, but Brodeur set the record for most SHO in a playoff year. Anyways, the Devils themselves were applauding, so who cares about the fans?

There was absolutely no way in HELL that the Quackazz were going to win last night. That line of Langenbrunner, Friesen, and Rupp could not be stopped last night. And also, it looked like Tony Soprano must’ve strong-armed Giguere during the first intermission, because he looked incredibly shaky throughout periods 2 and 3. He needs to work on rebound control and puckhandling over the offseason.

So, in the end, the Devils defeated the poor-man’s Devils. Not a surprising result, and I do give respect to the Ducks for their run. Hopefully the Devils will now be thought of in the same breath as the other recent powerhouses (Wings, Avs, Stars) despite the fact that they don’t play the homo Euro gloryboy high flyer style.

Now the question is whose number do I get put onto my jersey?? I was pretty much sold on either Madden or Colin White even before the playoffs began, but I’d be hard-pressed now to not get Mike Rupp or Brian Gionta (a fellow Upstate NYer). I’m also going to try to get one of those Stanley Cup patches for the front of the jersey, that looks hot.

See everyone next year, I’m sure the Devils will be back again!

2003 STANLEY CUP CHAMPION NEW JERSEY DEVILS

Oh, just getting around to getting your jersey because your team won? :smack:

I’d go Daneyko (old school) or Madden (for that hideous multi-colored eye socket and the beautiful scar that he’ll be sporting for the rest of his life and reliving that memory every time he looks in the mirror at himself)…

That first goal just killed the Ducks…

As for Giguere crying…what do expect for a no-name goalie early this season who almost pulled off the ultimate dream and watch it crash in 2 periods? Brodeur has been there and done that 5 times and he already understood the emotion involved in the SCP. Expect Giguere to stone his emotions better next time…

During the playoff, Kelly Hrudey has written articles from an explayer’s stand point. For those of you who don’t remember him, he was the LA Kings goalie when they lost their Stanley cup bid 10 year ago. He writes:

article here (note: it requires subscription) I don’t understand how someone can think bad about another person just because they show honest emotion.

At the Pond 2 minutes before the game was over, all of the fans were on their feet clapping thru the end of the game for the run the Ducks did. When they gave the Devils the trophy we all stood and applauded. We were not happy but we were good sports about the loss. It still hurts, but I will be at the Pond tomorrow morn to show my respect for a bunch of guys who did what no one thought they could do, and did it well.

[sub]ninja there is still some room left on the Duck bandwagon, and they should be good for a few years to come. I am sure Babcock can get a restraining order on you also, not that he has one on me, nooo, I wouldn’t stalk anyone :)[/sub]

Already got the road jersey, just didn’t get a player on it yet. Also, I’m only 22, and when I bought it while a collegian, that wasn’t exactly peanuts I had to spend.

Then again, you could say that I got it “just because my team won”, considering I bought it the summer after Stanley Cup victory number 2.

Thanks for the kind offer, Deb, but I’m not going to abandon my team for some pretty-boy coach. See you next season.
