The warning was given for a very simple reason: I told kayaker to stop posting on that tangent, and he said OK and let it go. Munch then decided to argue with me about that instruction and picked up the topic I’d just told kayaker to stop posting about. That’s ignoring instructions. I’m not much impressed by the contention that Munch didn’t know I was referring to anyone else since I’d referred to the subject as a hijack of the thread.
I said you hadn’t read my post because your summary of what I wrote was just about the opposite of what I’d actually said:
That’s pretty far off from what I did say. I definitely don’t keep mental track of unmodded comments (sexual or not).
And I’m not going to let ATMB threads get hijacked by people complaining about unrelated problems from years ago. Sorry. I realize this is a hobby for some people and I hate to ruin their fun, but we don’t do this so people can play games. Cesario was banned years ago for being a creep and ignoring mod instructions, and after the ban the staff admitted we should’ve kept a closer watch on him and dealt with him sooner and before he’d caused as much trouble as he did. We meant that and we’ve done a better job communicating about potential problems since that time. I don’t see the connection between that overly slow ban three years ago and a single mod note over an off-topic sexual comment. They’re not related, so I asked kayaker to let it go. He got the message. You didn’t, so you got the warning.
To what effect? I’m sure there are conversations where it might be relevant, but that wasn’t one. He wasn’t banned for that type of thing anyway. His posts weren’t off-color jokes, they were either threads on gross topics or they were deliberate thread hijacks intended to draw more attention to himself.
Why? I gave you a mod note and you dropped the hijack. Munch continued it after I said to stop. If I’d warned you I’d have still warned Munch.
We don’t pay “damages” for warnings and I assure you we never will. Since warnings have no impact on a user’s board experience, that makes no sense at all. And Munch already posts here for free.
