Let's have some 'Fierce Creatures' love

Yup. I’m even pretty sure that we went to see it on opening weekend.

I know. It’s weird. She is up in his arms when they are in that cage, too. It’s really odd.

Me too. In China, DVD’s were about a buck each and I accidentally bought some full screens.

Holy crap! It streams in the proper wide-screen aspect ratio, too. I’m watching this again soon.

Hell, I once bought (in the US) a fancy collector’s edition of Jaws, with a little picture booklet with production photographs and stuff like that. And it was fullscreen. Completely baffled me. Who’s the market for something like that?

I know, but she is just being held up by him and kissing him lots on the cheek. It’s cute.

ETA: My parents, when mom was alive, always preferred full screen and only bought full screen. They said it had to do with the way the faces always looked stretched out. SO there are people out there who like full screen.

My wife’s parents always preferred full screen VHS tapes. I don’t think some people fully understand aspect ratios.

Oh, and I should mention that Stanely Kubrick movies are frequently full screen because he filmed a lot of his movies 4:3 ratio.

He was kind of weird.

I love zoo too.

I was trying to remember the celebrities who endorsed animals in the new zoo. Weren’t Sting and Saddam Hussein among them? And of course they had probably the most product placement ever in a movie.

Hated it. Loathed and despised it. Or at least the thirty minutes I saw before I walked out thinking: Cleese says that Yellowbeard is his worst film after being in this?"

I saw it in theater on opening night. I was a little confused at first because I had thought it was a literal sequel. I quite enjoyed it. In later years on cable I found it more rewatchable than AFCW.

DVDs became mainstream long before wide screen TVs. Film aspect ratio shrinks the screen real estate on a CRT by about 2/3. If you don’t have a decent sized TV that can get pretty tiny! I preferred the black bars anyway as a purist but I understood the appeal of pan and scan.

Now that everything is HD it’s a non issue. I have quite a few DVDs which are two sided so you don’t have to choose. Nowadays the same thinking is responsible for those DVD-Blueray-digital copy combos.

Yeah, but you would think that someone who’s willing to pay $40 for a fancy collector’s edition of a thirty five year old movie would understand aspect ratios, and have a nice enough TV to view it in widescreen.

Uh, you did see that this thread was for people that liked the movie, right?

Yep - but I hated it so much I couldn’t resist.
