IME, that’s a Superliner observation car which has a video screen at one end. Perhaps Amtrak employees have access to better rolling stock or things have changed in the past couple of decades.

Once I had to change my reservation and the only roomette available was in the transition sleeper (a Superliner car which has a lower door at one end that connects with the baggage car and a higher door at the other that connects with the next Superliner car). It’s mostly dedicated to the service crew, but normally has several compartments available for overflow passengers. At least in this case, I would say that Amtrak spares every expense for crew comfort — to be charitable, it was a poorly-maintained rattletrap. Which kind of makes sense given that the crew is working pretty much all the time they’re not asleep, but I wouldn’t really describe it as a perk.
