Oh, SNAP!
So NPR showed up with a piece on this on my facebook feed, and the comments really pissed me right the fuck off.
There were so many folks saying “wow, a million dollars a day to sit in a room without food and water? Sign me up!!”
Those fuckers can just go lock themselves in a room with no way to get out, and if someone never comes around to find them, well, I’m not going to feel so bad.
This guy almost died. He was probably on the verge of death. You can’t go much longer than 4 or 5 days with no water. He tried carving his mom a goodbye note into his arm because he figured he was on his deathbed. It’s not like he was thinking “oh great just a little while longer and someone is going to come find me and then I’m going to make out like a bandit with a lawsuit.”
So just a big hearty fuck you to all the facebook commenters who feel that way. And, if any of you on the board feel that way, well, I won’t say fuck you to you guys because it’s against the rules, but I will say, you are terrible people.
A lot I cannot wrap my head around in this story.
Sounds like they brought him and decided not to charge him, kid mouthed off, agents decided to teach him a lesson (stupid and illegal but it happens). They throw him in a holding cell…
That’s where it breaks down for me. When you put someone in a cell you are responsible for him. Agents forgot they tossed him in a holding cell? Holding cell is somewhere out of the way where his screams cannot be heard?? There is no officer on duty who’s job it is to check on the people in the holding cell to make sure…I dunno…they haven’t killed each other or hung themselves or pooped on the floor? Nobody asked 'Who is this kid in the holding cell??? Where is his paperwork??"

All the way to this point you have never given details of how you believe he came to be** locked in** an isolated holding pen for 4+ days if he was “free to go”, but seem to be insisting it doesn’t matter what happened or how or why because, hey, it was all his own damn fault anyway for being a dope fiend.
