Let's put something in the water!

Yeah, but due to the overwhelming overpopulation here, that would probably have been a good thing, right?

Hmm, not quite.

I know, if you’re parents cannot provide for fertility treatments, then they must be doing something wrong. Right?

Errr, that’s no good.

How about, Max the Immortal knows better than poor people whether or not they should raise kids?

That’s outrageously arrogant.

Maybe we should just trust that Max’s plan is for the benefit of society, and not concern ourselves with pesky details.

Whoah there! What’s all this talk about me actually endorsing this plan? I’m not endorsing or condoning anything here, just throwing ideas around.

Just thought I’d clear that up…

This is turning into a curious little thread.

So, I offer an answer to the OP – OK, it’s not 100% on the ‘conspiracy theory’ line that the OP had in mind but addresses the fertility aspect – and three people disagree. No one, including me, offers cites to support their views and Danielinthewolvesden offers his ‘definitive’ and unsupported opinion i.e. “Asmo & derleth are both correct.”

Then I come back with a cite that references, amongst others,

THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE
THE BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL
THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ANDROLOGY
THE JOURNAL OF ENDOCRINOLOGY
THE EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF CANCER AND CLINICAL ONCOLOGY
THE TOXICOLOGY AND APPLIED PHARMACOLOGY

None of the three who earlier disagree, **Asmodean, Derleth ** or ** Danielinthewolvesden ** feel able to respond yet a fourth unsupported opinion also appears.

I’m sorry that the weight of medical opinion doesn’t support the OP’s conspiracy’ idea in the direct sense but nonetheless, Government’s are acquiescing to the reduction of sperm count by adopting a policy of no-policy on the question of the responsible pollutants. Thus the nub of the OP is addressed i.e.

“The Powers That Be (government, etc.) secretly put a certain chemical in the nation/world’s tap water supplies. This chemical (colourless, tasteless, etc.) would cause men who consume the tap water in question on a regular basis to become sterile (due to a reduced sperm count; they could still conceive children through a fertility clinic). I’m sure such a substance exists, or could be invented fairly easily.”
It would seem to me that this is a reasonably important area so has anyone got any contrary medical evidence they would like to share – cos this thread looks like it belongs in IMHO ?
