Let's talk about memory function and age

“I don’t care” is my goto phrase.

I’ve been making all kinds of lists since I was in my 20s. It’s actually improved and toned down through the years. I find I use them less these days because I guess I don’t care about all the tasks anymore. I will get the important stuff sorted and the rest is…blowing in the wind.

LurkMeister, I was in the process of starting a new thread to discuss memory issues. The Dope popped up with suggestions about similar threads. And lo and behold, here’s the thread I started last year about memory issues!

Long term memory is still fairly good as far as I can tell. Short term - not so much. Just saw a good book review in the NYT which mentioned a 2001 book by Andy Weir - Project Hail Mary. Got the book from the library, read it, all 500 pages, and went to record it on my Goodreads account. Read the damn thing back when it first came out.:scream:

Not one sentence, not one paragraph, not one of the many predicaments stirred any shard of a memory.

I’ll probably post another thread or reply to this one next month or next year and be surprised it’s already here.

[Looking at the top post] That seems to happen you pretty frequently.

Use this to your advantage. Go through your Goodreads account and see what books you liked, and read those again. Sure fire winners.

I’m not joking. Several years ago my wife went through ECT, which blew holes in her memory. She’d find something to stream (or read), and it would often be a movie or show she’d previously watched. I could tell her to not bother, or it was a great choice, based on how much she liked it the first time.
