After searching mountainous regions in Arkansas, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky, producers realized the family they were looking for was right under their nose.

“Right now, we are looking at offering the starring role to Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary and their daughter Chelsea,” CBS spokesperson Red Kneck said. “We weren’t looking for a famous family, but the Clintons are too good to pass up. They are the epitome of a hillbilly family striking it rich.”

Kneck said the Clintons qualify for the show because they no longer have any money.

Mom grew up in Midwest City… went to a women’s college in Chickasha <— Did I spell that right?

Mom and Dad met at the women’s college on her 20th birthday. Dad was stationed at Fort Sill… he’d go over to the college to cruise for chicks. This was in the mid-sixties.

Dad’s an Auburn alumnus, so “Go Sooners!” it is!

Why “hillbillies?”

Since you asked…Beverly Hills + Hillbillies…the terms run together to create Beverly Hillbillies.

WV_W:

Why not “Real Beverly Toothless Hicks” or “Real Beverly Inbred Morons.” You might as well call it something like that, because those are precisely the images the word “hillbilly” brings to mind.

I never considered the term “hillbilly” to be offensive…well, not offensive to the degree that you suggest it is.

There is even a high school (in WV of all places) whose nickname is “The Hillbillies.”

Heh. I was wondering when someone would start a thread (I thought it would be a Pit thread) on this show. Found it while searching to see why WV_Woman got banned. (She banned herself, so to speak, btw.)

That’s the reason the concept behind The Beverly Hillbillies wasn’t offensive, and that of The New Beverly Hillbillies is. It’s a reality show. You can’t script it like they scripted The Beverly Hillbillies to give the hillbillies the upper hand and make the bankers look stupid. In The New Beverly Hillbillies these real people are going to look stupid and pathetic, and we’re going to be laughing at them.
