I was wondering, is there any particular night of the week when Letterman goes to the mailbag? I don’t watch religiously, but I’m hoping he might use comething funny I found for him. Is one weeknight better than the rest?

They used to do it exclusively on fridays. I believe that is still the case but I have no independant confirmation of this.
Yup, still every Friday.
Now, what he needs to do is “Dave Talks to Kids” and “Stupid Pet Tricks” regularly. I love those episodes, so very much.
Yeah, when Letterman was just becoming a household name…wasn’t this a nightly feature? Not sure about “Talking with kids”. Must be a new feature (borrowed from Art Linkletter).
Better yet, bring back fifteen second theater. I never did get to see how “Suicide Squad” ended.
Fifteen Second Theater? Must have been before my time.
Once Letterman is over (in about a half hour or so), I’m switching to Conan on NBC. Can’t stand Kilborn.
Too bad Andy Richter quit. I miss his staring contests with Conan.

[list]
Letterman is at his best when he’s talking to ordinary folks, either from the audience or brought in as guests. I really wish they did that stuff more often. Especially “Kid Scientists” or whatever it’s called, that’s always a riot.
Back when Dave was on NBC with Late Night with David Letterman, letters were on Thursday nights (and there was no Friday show).
I know a guy, Lon Wolf, who had a letter read on the air not once but twice! I don’t think anyone else ever managed that.
I only remember one of them. Lon wrote in to Dave something like:
Dave’s reply was “Long term therapy!”
