Cecil’s old column on Carroll and young girls being on the main page reminded me of his one on the loony suggestion that Carroll was Jack the Ripper. Which in turn reminded me that I’d recently stumbled across this article by Karoline Leach dismissing the suggestion in greater detail than Cecil accorded it. Amusing stuff, not least when she points out that the proposer, Richard Wallace, finds anagrams that he claims reveal happenstance details about the murders in works by Carroll that were actually published a few years before they happened.
She then goes on to identify Christopher Robin as the real culprit.
