Libertarian view of Colonialism?

I suppose this could concievably be a GQ, but well, hell…

I’m curious as to the nature of the Libertarian view of European Colonialism and its aftermath, especially in Africa. Was the takeover justified, given that many of the native societies couldn’t show “deed” to their land in the Western sense? What about the “reparative” moves against white landowners by Mugabe’s followers in Zimbabwe? Is one justified in “stealing back” land that was “stolen” from your ancestors? Those are specific questions, but broader answers are appreciated too.

Just curious. Thanks.

Libertarians don’t just take whatever isn’t written down as owned.

To elaborate on erislover’s post, in Western law, possession is nine-tenths of the law. Libertarians assume that whoever currently owns something legitimately owns it unless proven otherwise - innocent until proven guilty.
