There is absolutely no Republican candidate so far who compares to the Reagan of 1980.

Reagan damn near primaried out a sitting Republican President in 1976. He continued to build bridges and to get out his message for the following three years.

Any Democrat who was not terrified of Reagan in 1980 was living in a dream world.

Cain now says he is worried about assassination plots, and requested Secret Service protection. Perhaps he is getting ready to quit the campaign for the sake of his wife (and her divorce lawyer?)

I am so afraid of the Republican clown car, I plan to switch parties to vote for one of them in the New Hampsire Republican primary. Which ever one has the best chance to knock off Romney will do, but I am hoping it is Cain or Bachman, because they entertain me the most.

The first story was he wanted protection from the reporters. I am sure he has changed that by now.

Barack Obama was given secret service protection earlier in the 2008 cycle than Cain.

I’m sure the fact that they are both black can only be a cosmic coincidence and not at all reflective of the way certain segments in our society think.

Has Cain actually gotten any unusual number of threats? I’m for giving him protection anyway, just in case, but I wonder if there is anything credible behind this. His enemies are too busy laughing at him to be dangerous.
