I bet they are a bit more likely to now. But you are right in that they will probably be used as hostages. It’s not like that regime has to worry about racking up any more human rights violations. But it does lessen any chance they will be able to escape into exile and not wind up in The Hague.

I have no idea what is happening over there regarding the offers and counteroffers, and it sounds like they are not that sure either, but I am sure that Gaddafi is not going to submit to house arrest on the sea shore like Mubarak.

Escaping to Egypt seems a very good idea. Will probably be welcomed by the revolutionaries there. Ghaddafi isn’t about to piss Egypt off by going after them, if he’s as smart as people say he is. From secure bases in Egypt they can make life very hard for Ghaddafi in relative safety.
