Has any rational plan been suggested for Libya?

I’m somewhat confused about Libya. There’s no question Khadafi is a dangerous lunatic.

But exactly what are we trying to achieve? Has the International coalition said anything about goals besides protecting civilians?

How can prolonging a civil war do anything except cost lives? A week ago the insurgents held an oil port and several major towns. By yesterday they had been driven out (and many killed) everywhere except from one city. Isn’t it too late to save the insurgency?

Is there any plan at all? Are we hoping Libya’s obviously corrupt military will take over?

I’m all for getting rid of Khadafi. But which crazy despot will take his place? :stuck_out_tongue:
