Licking toads

In one of the Simpson’s episodes, Homer is shown getting high from licking a toad.

Do some toads have psychedelic excretions from their skin?

True but I’m not going to give you a cite because this thread is soon to be closed anyways.

I’m not going to post the answer here becuase I honestly don’t know how the mods would feel about a thread like this (I don’t see anything wrong with it but hey, it’s not my board). But just search google, it’s not hard to find
Marge: Homer are you licking toads?

Homer: I’m not not licking toads!

Bufotenine is the hallucinogenic alkaloid obtained from glands in the skin of some toads and mushrooms. As far as I know, licking a toad wouldn’t do much for you, injection would be much more effective. It’s certainly not safe, and is part of what toads of the genus Bufo use to poison predators. I believe bufotenine is illegal in the U.S.

About a year ago there were 5 youths in a small city near me who thought they’d try it. They all wound up in the hospital with varying degrees of illness.

I’m not not licking toads.

Cane toads, which are of the genus bufo, are a feral species/ecological disaster in northern Australia, and as such, are subjected to some unusual forms of abuse.

One of those includes boiling a couple of cane toads up in a pot to elicit the bufoteninine from the skin, then drinking the contents of the pot to get high…

Yuck!!!

Can’t believe this thread is still open.
