Not relevant to the thread yet still being debated and still being debated…

lies aplenty but so far none targeting republicans quoted
no quotes from Democratic party officials

insinuated Bush bush fired him for disagreeing

still no examples of prominent democrats saying them
I’m aware he is a governor, prominent enough to make the list, but please don’t take it as a pass to go digging through everything said in state legislator
my memory was Biden claiming he was the most under qualified to ever run if anyone has the quote put it up.
obvious sarcasm or at the very least a substantial misunderstanding of the definition
any prominent Democrats attached to the add?
some lies in there to the American public but not seeing any targeting Republicans
A claim she told lies but no examples so far
I acknowledges lies have been told about Sarah Palin but unless someone can point to a lie told about a prominent Democrat saying them can we please move on.
Do humorous lies count? Because Biden’s comment that the only thing that comes out of Giuliani’s mouth is “noun, verb, 9-11” is just awesome.
Why is it being implied that because some comments are being debated, they may not be lies? By that measure, Obama’s citizenship is “still being debated.”
First off, it would be easier if you’d move away from the quotation tag and use bullet points. I can’t figure out how to quote quotes.
As to the claim that Republicans votes against troop funding to block health care reform, I’m not aware of an ad, but here’s Harry Reid addressing the Senate with regard to the defense appropriations bill that Republicans filibustered. An accompanying TPM article (yes, biased, I know, whatever) indicates that the filibuster delayed the health care debate by 30 hours.
Oh, here’s the ad in question, paid for by the DNC. It appears to be a part of Dem talking points. Of course, this is not targeting specific Republicans per se.
Truth seeking mission to see if there is any evidence prominent Democrats lie every bit as much as prominent Republicans.
The thread to me is also a measure of the boards ability to look at a question objectively in the interest fighting ignorance and provide factual answers regardless of affiliation.
I don’t think it’s strange. I missed it until the recap. So, what’s the lie? What was the intent of the GOP in filibustering a defense appropriation bill? This seems, hmmm…I don’t know…out of character, maybe? Correct me if I’m wrong, of course.
I’m sure that Biden did not mean the comment to be taken literally. A humorous exaggeration to make a point, even Gi911ani’s most ardent supporters and his lone delegate must realize that he talked about darn near nothing else but 9/11.
Is anyone still debating McCain’s 100-year war in Iraq? No replies to the youtube vids I linked to. Is it too soon to assume this one has run out of defensive linemen?
FTR, I voted for Obama and to me in this instance, he lied. It doesn’t really surprise me much though. Presidential elections have become increasingly distasteful.
I don’t get it. What is hyperbole to some is a lie to others.
Like Alan Grayson’s “just die” comment. I think there isn’t a shred of truth in that statement, even though I’m a liberal. Whether or not there is some person here to defend Grayson or Glenn Beck, doesn’t effect the fact that everything said in politics is subject to spin. Whether the spin constitutes jazzing up the truth with hot rhetoric; or having a speck of truth in a bowl full of lies; is more a matter of opinion than anything. Don’t expect consensus on anything beyond a couple howlers.
Not sure yet. Disappointment at the number of ‘quality’ Democratic lies. I can’t determine if posters are unwilling to post them or if the Democrats just aren’t lying hard enough. Someones just not doing their part.
Well, I can say there are several more lies I can think of, but frankly, when one that’s as clear-cut (in my view) as “The Wall Street Journal said McCain was going to cut $1.2 trillion in Medicare benefits,” when the actual article has a McCain spokesman saying that no benefits will be cut… when something that clear-cut remains on the “debatable” list, it’s really not clear to me what benefit there would be in offering other examples.
So, at least for me, part of the reason you’re not seeing more offerings is that the standard required for a statement to be accepted as a lie is virtually unreachable.
I’ve yet to determine how I should weed out the actual lies when the thread runs its course.
I could make my own assessment and say they hell with anyone’s opinion, like I pretty much have when adding to the list. Not a very diplomatic way to resolve it as I’m sure their are others that want say in the end results
We could make a poll including all the quotes and allow them to be voted on and let majority win.
We could poll each lie on a 1-10 scale and just attach its rating.
That ad claims “Republicans are so desperate to block health reform and protect their special interest friends that they delayed funding for our men and women in uniform. Then they voted against it.”
They neither delayed funding, nor voted against it.
