I had long heard of the Fukawi: a pygmy tribe who live among the tall grasses of the African savanna. Their leader would occasionally hoist himself onto the shoulders of his assistant to get his bearings, and shout “WE’RE THE FUKAWI!”
Except recently, I heard that the Fukawi were actually a branch of the Sioux, and present at Little Big Horn. Tasked by Sitting Bull himself to come up on Custer’s flank by a narrow valley, they instead got sidetracked and ended up on the next hill down. By then the battle was over, and through the smoke of battle came the victory-cries of the Sioux as well as cries of “WE’RE THE FUKAWI!”
Who originally “discovered” the Fukawi tribe, and where are they supposed to dwell?
Firstly, there are the Masai, who grow to 6’6" or 195cm. They live in pastural areas. They tend cattle. They are a very proud people. The thump their chest and cry, “We are the masai!”
Secondly, there are the Pygmy, who live int the dense forest. The Pygmy are 4’6" or 135cm. They are hunters and a very proud tribe. They beat their chest and cry, “We are the Pygmy!”
And lastly, there are the Fukawi. They are 5’6" tall and live in the lush grasslands where the grass grows minimum 6’ high. They are also a very proud people who jump up and down, beat their chest and cry, “Where the Fukawi?”
