I was a Matt Groening fan almost a decade before The Simpsons for the weekly strip, Life in Hell. Unfortunately the strip has gotten as predictable as Family Circus if not quite as bland. I can’t remember when the strip was anything besided Akbar and Jeff verbally torturing each other. I wish he’d bring back Binky, Bongo and Sheba but he’s probably too busy with Fururama.
It must be difficult to be funny on a regular schedule, especially when you’re trying to do it in several outlets, like Matt Groening. Not that he needs ME to make excuses for him. He’s a great satirist and comedy writer.
Come to think of it, how many comic strips DON’T get tired after a while?
