Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me) was originally recorded by Reunion, who I had always assumed were a one-hit wonder but according to the wiki page they were just studio musicians put together for this one song. As such, I wouldn’t be surprised if they never performed it live- since they weren’t ever together as a working band. Although, maybe the singer had performed it live at some point?
Anyway, the other version I am familiar with is the version performed by Tracey Ullman in the 80’s (this version doesn’t seem to be on YouTube). Did Tracey Ullman ever perform this song live?
Even if the recording is done in a single take, that’s a single take with multiple opportunities to screw up and try again. Singing this song live would be pretty difficult- especially committing to singing it night after night on tour and never screwing it up.
