Life is unfair...

Bright Side of Life
a.k.a. Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

Composer: Eric Idle
Author: Eric Idle
Arranger: John Altman
Lead Singer: Eric Idle
From the ‘Life of Brian’ album and others

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you’re chewing your life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle,
And this’ll help things turn out for the best,
And…

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistling]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There’s something you’ve forgotten,
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps,
Don’t be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That’s the thing.
And…

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistling]

For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It’s your last chance, anyhow.
So,…

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistling]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistling]

Life’s a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke. It’s true.
You’ll see it’s all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And…

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistling]

I saw your thread topic yesterday, SD, and kept thinking on it during the day today. Life * is * unfair, no one disputes that, but it is interesting to think, if it was fair, how would we learn charity? Kindness, or mercy?

In all things, it seems we have to know the depths of the opposite to not only appreciate the positive thing, but to generate in us, the desire to lift others, or to motivate ** ourselves ** out of whatever our circumstances happen to have been.

If I had come from a wonderful family, I would * probably * take it for granted and have a more narrow or closed mind towards those from troubled homes, rather, I think, coming from a miserable home, made me work very hard to give my kids what I didn’t have, a safe, supportive * home life. *
