You can do that, but it’d be better to open the rear doors, and wrap the strap around the roof and through the door openings. Then just slam the doors shut on the strap. I’ve done this at times. You can still operate the windows and doors.
I know you didn’t ask, but you could probably find a Party Equipment Rental place at your destination and spend a few bux to rent the table you need.
