Likelyhood of higher wages & a better standard of living for Americans over 20yrs?

What is the real likelyhood of higher wages & a better standard of living for Americans over the next 20 years?

Are we going to see the Health Care Crisis fixed?

What are the odds of seeing an hourly wage worker’s lot improve over the next 20 years?

Are things as bleak for the non-multi-millionaire as they seem?

Things seem pretty bleak to me. My quality of life is what it is because I have no real responsibilities, other than taking care of myself. No wife or kids to worry about. The thought of having to compete for jobs/money + have a family scares the hell out of me. I have a degree, but today it seems like having a BS is not unlike having a high school degree 30 years ago. I feel severely under-employed, and need to go back to school… ah, if it was just that easy…

I’m not sure. Even though consumer goods and food have gone down in real cost things like healthcare, education and real estate have gone up, and so have taxes. I guess this trend will continue.

After a while I see a gigantic unionization of service industry jobs similiar to what happened with manufacturing jobs 80 years ago. It won’t be identical, but there will probably be mass movements.

Real estate may go down when the baby boomers die off and leave their houses empty, a market will be flooded with 20 million houses. Plus when the boomers retire the job market will get much better.

So its hard to say. Education, healthcare and real estate will continue to go up in cost, but soon there may be large scale unionizations, real estate busts and a stronger job market.
