Limburger

Where in the United States is Limburger Cheese made? I have heard that there is only one factory in the country that makes it. Where is it?

According to the Prairie Ridge Cheese site, “Limburger is a Brick-type cheese that is made only in Wisconsin.”

And one of the best places to get some is Baumgartner’s Tavern and Cheese Store on the town square in Monroe, Wisconsin–the seat of Green County. Go in there and ask for a Limburger and onion sandwich and a beer–that’s good eats. It will also guarantee that your personal space will be unchallenged for about 48 hours. It’s good, though!

I like my sammich with sliced boiled egg on it and a bit of cucumber in vinegar to cleanse the palate afterward.

And you wonder WHY it’s only made in WI ?
