I have had a LOC from a major US bank against my home for over a decade & have excellent credit. On the years I have used it as a backstop for unexpected expenses.
Twice this week I have had banks question checks written against my LOC. (One bank was my primary bank who reluctantly accepted the check since I have been with them for decades.)
This is new - has something changed in the banking industry that makes this type of credit suspect?
One person I know who has this uses line-of-credit checks only rarely, for big items, like purchasing a new car. So they are checks for a much larger amount than normal bank checks.
No, not particularly large, only a thousand in one case. It appears that banks consider these checks to be a bigger risk. Just don’t understand why this seems to have changed.
