Oh my golly, I must have seen that a few times. Horrifying.
My library still has Slim Goodbody books. Very scary indeed, they are.

Rodd Hull’s Emu attacking Michael Parkinson
It was funny until realisation fully dawned that this was an old guy using a glove puppet to grope people.
Cindy Brady embodies Evil.
The Canuck guy looks like Mr Roger’s poor hick cousin (sorry, but he does!). Was he color blind?
The Gigglesnort Hotel --if that was WGN in Chicago, then I remember it, too. There was a lump of clay that talked and other oddities. Hufnpuf was also skeery. As was Captain Kangaroo and Ray Rayner.
And the worst of all…
The Seattle Tacoma area was a kids dreamland for television aimed at children from the mid 50’s to the early 80’s. Those that grew up here still remember J.P. Patches, Brakeman Bill, Captain Puget, Stan Boreson and Slo Mo. But one always freaked me out, the witch called Wunda Wunda.
Oh! Pinky Lee His show got pulled for something scandalous. I was little, so I don’t remember.

Local scary talent all on one page. wunda wunda’s theme song still runs through my head. It would make good background to a Chucky movie.

racer72, oh yes. I think she was the beginning of that clown thing.

I have a moving picture.
This Bert & Ernie sketch scared the hell out of me…and after watching it again I am still scared, 20 years later. I remember being trepidatious about going in to the Luxor when I was in Vegas - just 2 years ago!
Yikes.
I have one of those puppy pictures, still, from when I was a kid. Auntie Em is scared of it, but I wrote my name on the back of the picture when I was, oh… maybe four or five, so I’ve been able to keep it around (hidden, at least) on grounds of nostalgia.
I would have posted the same.
That internal body shot freaked me out.
You guys suck! How can you say that?!? I STILL have a crush on Johnny Whitaker (he was so 70’s) and I’m gonna watch the video!
I think this man was always frightening- when I saw the author pic on my copy of “The Giving Tree” I thought he was going to eat me… The kind of guy you wouldn’t let within a mile of your kid based on looks alone.
Anybody remember The Bugaloos? And what the hell was that show with Charles Nelson Reilly as some sort of Mad Hatter?
ETA- Aha! Lidsville, yet another psychotic offering from the Kroft brothers, this one starring Butch Patrick and Billie Hayes (no strangers to odd television)- Reilly was Horatio Hoodoo.
ETA again to add link.
The Bugaloos, Lidsville, H. R. Pufnstuf, and Sigmund the Sea Monster were all Sid & Marty Krofft productions (as was Land of the Lost and a bunch of shorts like Wonderbug, Magic Mongo, Dr. Shrinker, Electra-Woman and Dyna-Girl, Far-Out Space Nuts and the Lost Saucer), so yes, jjimm, they are all connected.
I am STILL laughing at that image 10 mins later.
Well, thank for that post! I may not sleep tonight!
Seriously, we watched all those shows and a bunch of others. I’m even singing the Wonderbug song now…
Wow. I had somehow managed to repress that image for three decades or so, but suddenly it all came rushing back.
shudder
Now that’s just not right.
Unless Bertie’s the puppeteer, i think you’re getting squicked by the wrong one in that pic, dude.
No Hal! NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo! I had successfully wiped Slim Goodbody from my mind. I was doing so well!! How could you?
