Is there an equivalent of Microsoft Media Server for Linux? I’m looking for something that would allow me to stream WMV, MPEG 4, and other video formats from a Linux server to Windows Media Player running on a Windows PC.
You should look at twonkyvision.
I read through the site and I’m not sure if it does what I want. I’m looking for something that can stream to Windows Media Player. I may download it and play with it.
I have a rokulabs mp3 player. I use Microsoft Media Server to send music to the player. The twonkyvision software is suggested by roku for use if you have a linux box. I did use the windows version of twonkyvision to send music to the roku but went back to media server because browsing by some of the mp3 tags did not work very well.
Vlc?
