Linux is 20

As of yesterday. A 21 year old Linus Torvalds released version 0.0.2 of the Linux kernel, the first public release of the kernel, on the Minix Usenet group.

It’s pretty amazing that a 21 year old could have written a piece of software that came to dominate the computing industry so thoroughly, from supercomputers (92% market share of the top 500 supercomputers) to mobile phones and virtually everything inbetween.

How old is Luxy?

I got to play with linux for awhile on my PS3. It was a fun learn.

I feel old.

What in the world is Luxy?

I got in early with a Yggdrasil distro, then Slackware, then Redhat, then Ubuntu-family. But nowadays I do Cygwin mostly.

So early, in fact, that I read the Linux Pronunciation FAQ that came with the distros back then and I still pronounce it right. (And get “corrected” by the newbs who came along later. Yeah, right.)

See here.
