Bwahahahaha! That was hilarious!
Oh c’mon. Read it again and laugh this time - it’ll make way more sense, I assure you. (oh, and the link edwino is even better)
(I also liked this article which explains that it wasn’t poorly maintained levees, FEMA or anything that flooded New Orleans, it was books like Harry Potter bringing on the wrath of god)
I have no knowledge/opinion about the OP, but it is entirely accurate to describe Steve Ballmer as a “leading computer expert.”
He’s certainly not a disinterested third party–far from it. Probably no one on earth hates/fears Linux like Messrs Gates and Ballmer. Theres no way either of these guys are objective.
But the guy has been heavily involved with Microsoft, and all it’s divisions, for 25 years. (after graduating with a mathematics degree from Harvard) Linux’s principal competitor is Microsoft.
But if anyone understands operating systems, computers or the computer/software industry it’s Steve Ballmer. He may not write code, but you can bet he knows a ton about Linux.
**Coming soon: Liberal Children Part III : Descending to the Bowels of Hell **
Liberals do damage America every day.
They undermine American values, they collaborate with the enemy, they lie, they pollute good American’s minds with their filthy talk…
But the far worst liberals do is to corrupt the most precious we have: Our Children. Liberals are not fit to raise children.
(Anybody want mine? Only slightly (ab)used.)
**Oral Sex : Moral Decay **
Surely I don’t have to explain to you what Oral Sex is. Everybody knows it, right? But I bet that not everybody is aware of the high risks of unbridled oral “sexual pleasure”.
(Unbridled?..God, I hope so!)
**Harry Potter: The “Hogwarts Express” to Hell **
It is a well known fact that “soft satanism” like the Harry Potter books can lead children down a slippery slope where they become more inclined to investigate other sinister practices. For this simple reason, kids find themselves dangerously addicted to these books of evil.
NB: I’m tempted to agree with him on the Linux issues.
Geez… I hope there’s a link to subscribe to his newsletter.
This is just like that ‘article’ that claimed Loonix (Linux) was invented by a hacker named Linyos Torvaltos and that things like Bonsai Buddy and Comet Cursor were proof that your kid was going to be a hacker.
Among the other ‘illegal’ software and hardware prodcuts they lambasted were AMD processors - which are cheap and illegal and used only by hackers.
(I’ve never smoked pot. Can any user* tell me whether they have actually experienced vivid fractal imagery? It might tempt me to try the stuff–which would be better than whatever the author of that site is on.)
*(Obviously, for U.S. participants I would only be looking for experiences prior to the re-criminalization of the 1980s.)
Oooh, do you think they might allow me to see the hypercube in four dimensions? I’ve been trying to do that for years now. On the other hand, I’ve been using Linux for years too, so I guess that’s not one of the recognized side effects. Damn.
Ha! I knew it. I was looking around that site for something that said that. In all fairness, I think we should give edwino credit for calling it in post #3.
Back in college, my friends and I experimented with a few things. One evening we had the tv on, and it was showing fractal images. Having ingested no drugs at all, we pretty much stared at the tv for over an hour, completely blown away (we hadn’t seen anything like it before). It was honestly way, way cooler than anything that we “saw” while under any influence.
I clicked that link from the page with the follow-up article. It gave me a 404 error and a message saying I would be redirected. I was redirected – to the home page. Meantime, before the redirect, the error page did have those three graphics at the bottom.
I don’t know man, last time I compiled a kernel, I saw all kind of things that weren’t there…far out…groovy.
And a lot of things that weren’t there but should have been… :smack:
