Lip Balm Ingredients

Lip balm - my wife tells me it’s made from Placenta, in-fact she has a brand simply called ‘Placenta’ and it is in every respect the same as other lip balms.

Anyone know if this is true?
Who’s placenta is it?

I haven’t been able to find any placenta lip balm (thank heaven!) but I did find this: ( http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a981225.html ), a place which sells moisturizing cream made from placenta.
Yeeg.

I remember hearing a report some years ago on public radio saying that what made lip balm “addictive” is that many of them contain ingrediants which may give temporary relief but then after a period of a couple of hours act to dry out the lips. This leads to a repetitve cycle of using the lip balm.
