Lip Goo

It’s winter here, and so often my lips end up pretty chapped or cracked. This is pretty irritating, especially since I’m a brass player. I often use products like Lip Medex or DCT. You know, lip goo. Comes in a wee little jar and you smear it on your dried out lips to protect them from wind, sun, whatever. Last year, some other brass players I know told me I should specifically not use Lip Medex because it’s got camphor (or however it’s spelled) in it. They told me it would somehow damage my lip tissue or it was bad for the surrounding muscles or some such thing. Is there any truth to these ideas?

Well, if it won’t embarrass you to say where you got the information:

So, yeah, probably you should switch to something like Chapstick, that doesn’t have any camphor or menthol in it.

…or a clear lip gloss.

Thanks, but I’m gonna have to say no on the lip gloss. Unless I can find some with glitter in it.

This makes my lips ultra happy!

Beeswax Lip Balm Ingredients-
Beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, tocopheryl acetate & tocopherol (vitamin E), lanolin, peppermint oil, comfrey root extract, rosemary extract.(95.29% Natural)

Comes in a big ol’ tube, and is usually used for all over skin irritation - but it’s the best thing I’ve found for dry lips. Cheaper than the little pots too (per use), altho’ carrying a big tube can be irritating.

Dermatone. Get it at a ski shop, that’s the only place I’ve seen it. A $4 tin of it will last you for years and years.
