I must admit I only knew her from this song but that’s still a big deal to me and enough to make me sad she’s gone.

Forbidden Planet was on TCM last night.

Coincidence?

Janette Scott needs to start looking over her shoulder…

That’s two Forbidden Planet cast members in the last couple of months. How’s Robby the Robot doing these days?

Not well. Oh, he’ll whip up a nice soft frock that fits in all the right places, these days. But forget diamonds and emeralds for trim, the best he can come up with is CZs.

Came here to say Forbidden Planet was on last night, blah blah…was she in any other movies of note?

OK - went and looked. A few movies back in the 50’s, but she has been on a zillion TV shows over the years.
RIP, Ms. Francis.

The only big-name movie I recognize here is The Blackboard Jungle. She did a LOT of TV work…more than I’d have credited to her. I wasn’t aware she was basically a professional guest star.

I could never stop staring at that mole. But she was fun to watch and that’s no way to die.

Buncha youngsters. I remember her best as Honey West.

RIP Anne.

I remember that show too.

Orson Bean did a guest shot on Two and a Half Men, as an elderly husband of a hot young thing. He’s talking to Charlie about the conquests of his youth – Tuesday Weld, Joey Heatherton, and Anne Francis. When the Harpers look blank, he says “TV’s Honey West?” and looks sad and disgusted that they hadn’t heard of her.

(Made me wonder if Orson Bean really did sleep with them, and how they felt about having their names bandied about like that.)

Odds are 1)yes he did, and 2) they didn’t mind. Orson was quite the “Charlie Harper” when he was younger.

I sure remember Anne Francis as “Honey West” as I was in the ninth grade when that show was broadcast.
Rest in peace Ms Francis. :frowning:

Amen, Silenus. She’ll be missed. I’d always enjoyed her work and Honey West is what I remember her best in. She was the coolest thing EVAH. Even as a little girl I wanted to BE Honey West when I grew up.

I love the movie Forbidden Planet. One of the classic Sci Fi Movies of all time. Nothing like landing on a strange planet and being invited for a nude swim by a lovely young lass.

She had a long and successful career in movies and television. RIP Anne.

She also had the thankless role of Georgia James in Funny Girl - too pretty (so the rumors go) so that much of her screen time ended up cut out.

I remember Honey West, even though it was gimmicky and derivative I enjoyed it because of her.

To absent friends.

How about Marsha White in “The After Hours” (The Twilight Zone)? That episode aired as part of the SciFi channel’s New Year’s marathon.
