The best thing to do if at all possible is try to sync the radio broadcast to the TV broadcast and mute the TV. I would say it rivals listening to the radio broadcast while at the stadium.

Sometimes you can. The first Giants MNF game this year, for example, was synched with radio. The second one was not, but because ESPN is cable the broadcast is also carried on a local station, in this case My9. That broadcast was in sync with the radio feed. (Thankfully.)

Regular Sunday day games don’t seem to be even remotely in sync, unfortunately. I haven’t checked any SNF games, mostly because I don’t mind Madden & Michaels.

Might you fight my ignorance? I’m the proud owner of a 7.1, 61" HDTV system, but I wasn’t aware of a “7.2” configuration. What is it? Seven speakers plus two subs?

Yup, basically that’s what it is. The better the equipment the better the sound, and speaker placement helps. When done right it’s really neat to hear. It seems to help get a richer low end that you normally get by turning a single sub up, but you can play it lower so it doesn’t feel like it’s “shouting” for atttention. Hard to describe, I guess, but a 7.2 is just adding another sub.

Ideocracy was a movie that came out this past summer, made by the guy who made Office Space. It was set something like 500 years in the future (too far in the future, in my opinion) and a guy, an average, everyday shlub (played by Luke Wilson), who is cryogenically frozen in present day, wakes up in that future to find that the population has been so dumbed-down by reality shows, Jackass-type shows, hostility to education and general apathy (and sports, if I remember correctly though I could be wrong) that he, of all people, is now the smartest guy in the country. It was mildly funny, with several amusing moments, but it scored some pretty damned good points about how people are just getting dumber and dumber and dumber.

Huh, I could have sworn it was a documentary. This thread would seem to prove it.

Does anyone else see an awesome YouTube short here. I am not very good at these types of films, but imagine a commercial set-up, introducing a new product. First scene, you have a kid playing an MMORPG, he types in “DUDES that rulzzz, i am leet, i pwned UUUUUzzz”, then, a hand erupts from the screen and slaps him. A little voice then says “You have ‘a bitch slap’”. Next scene, some girl is sitting in front of the computer, she types in a simple message, using no puntuation, capitalization and at least 80 smilies. Repeat slap.

It has potential.
