Jim Corrigan? Here comes that continuity headache again…
Crispus’s Wiki entry should help.
Oh wow, that’s very interesting. I thought this was Jim Corrigan, the original host of the Spectre (and another murdered policeman).
Yeah. This is a new guy. No doubt a deliberate fakeout, and his connection, if any, he has to the original Corrigan. (My guess, either a great nephew, or a result of timespace punching.)
>_< ‘His connection, if any, to the original Corrigan isn’t defined, at least as of yet.’
A number of dead characters – Magik, Thunderbird, etc. – have appeared in Exiles. They are all alternate timeline versions, however, so they don’t count.
616 Blink is dead.
616 Thunderbird is dead.
616 Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) is dead.
And, in the most recent issue of Thunderbolts, his son and heir Genis-Vell was killed by Baron Zemo. Genis is exceedingly unlikely to remain dead, however. He’s died at least twice before and brought himself back both times.
616 Magik (Illyana Rasputina) is dead.
616 Ant-Man (Scott Lang) is dead.
616 Jack of Hearts is dead.
AoA Nate Grey is dead.
616 Mockingbird is dead (and appearing with fellow dead girls Gwen Stacy and, well, Dead Girl in the Dead Girl series).
Villains have a worse turn-over rate than the heroes! (Maybe because good villains are hard to create, the writers keep resurrecting old ones). Magneto has ‘died’ several times, as has Red Skull, Doctor Doom, etc. The only big baddies I can think of who are still six feet under are Michael Korvac and Baron Heinrich Zemo. Oh, and Eddie Brock, the original Venom.
My point, I guess, in posting this was to demonstrate just how ludicrous the concept of death is treated in superhero comics. I find deaths of characters to be extremely frustrating: in a recent tpb of the comedy series, there is even a gag about how frequently people in the Marvel universe drop off the perch.
Nope, I wanna see a body.
Superboy (Kon-El) is supposed to be next in the DCU, as a result of Infinite Crisis.
Synch popped up in the House of M version of the New Mutants, and promptly died again. I don’t think Skin as been back, except for a flashback story in X-men Unlimited.
Yes, but if he is dead (and we haven’t seen the body), he’s been dead less than a real-world month (albeit, probably close to a year in canon).
Barry Allen is a special case of dead/not dead. AS he was dying, he traveled all over time, so he can essentially show up alive anywhere, anywhen, even though he’s definately dead. They could even bring him back for years of fun and still have him die in the original Crisis. Heck, there, he dies by slowly aging/vanishing: maybe he lived out a normal lifetime elsewhen in the DC in the meantime.
One of these appearances appears to be as recent as IC, though still unconfirmed that it was him and not Wally.
Y’know, I only ever heard of the Crimson Avenger in the context of his dying, and yet I remember that one clearly from the better part of a quarter-century ago. He’s got the kiss of death from his doctor, who’s confirmed him as a terminal cancer case. He costumes up one last time, and while on patrol and after undertaking a few routine rescues and so on, he winds up aboard a burning chemical tanker on the river. He orders the crew to safety and steers it out to sea where it can blow up without harming anyone, except of course for him. But his last thoughts are of what a full and satisfying life he’s had and how fitting his end is. That about right?
Looks like Korvac is back as of the latest New Avengers though.
I got the distinct impression that he Wasn’t Korvac. Since Iron Man asked him if he was Korvac, and the entity corrected him.
I dunno. I thought Cameron Hodge was a good bad guy, but I don’t think he qualifies since I can’t produce a body. Actually, I can produce a body, but no head.
Did the speed twins (The twins that Iris Allen had in the LSH era) ever get rebooted? Or are they still dead?
The Tornado Twins haven’t shown up yet in the new series.
Bart Allen’s history (which would include the fate of the Tornado Twins) is a bit foggy, since the Legion was rebooted and he wasn’t. But I think they’re still dead.
Bart’s history was a bit foggy from the start. He first appeared before Zero Hour, after the Pre-ZH Twins’ deaths. But, pre-ZH, Don Allen had one child, Barry, by a woman who wasn’t Meloni Thawn.
I loved Generation X. It’s the book that started my comic collection.
Gen X basically started during the Phalanx Covenant, right? The Age of Apocalypse GenX was pretty darn fun too. I can’t say that the series ENDED all that well: it more seemed to peter out than conlude in a satisfying way.
