List some outliers on your MP3 player

List 5 songs that have no reason what so ever belonging on your
MP3 plater of choice.

My Baseline Data:

Out of 1830 songs:

386 songs under Soundtracks.

275 - 300 Trance / Electronica songs. (Itunes isn’t sure what Electronica is.)

109 or so New Age / Native American songs.

Beatles, Beastie Boys, Weird AL, Charolotte Church all come in with over 50 songs each. Outkast and Eminem are in the 40s.

This is a general Idea of where my tastes are.

If I had to tell you what I listen to most often, it would be Trance / Electronica.

From that mix, I will also admit having these songs, that have next to nothing to do with what you just read:

  1. Kiki Kangaroo - Steve Weeks – “Alphabet Songs Vol II”
I heard this flipping though my XM channels one day. The lyrics are well thought out, and overall just add up to a song I had to have. Good Puns. (No really.)
-I also have the best of Nicktoons soundtrack. (Happy Happy Joy Joy)

  2. 100% pure white noise – 60 minutes of white noise (Static) - Purewhitenoise.com – I heard that White Noise helps people with A.D.D. study. Itunes had an hour of it for a buck. I figured it was worth it if it could help me.

  3. Stars and Stripes Forever march – Sousa – Public Domain
One of the first public domain songs I ever downloaded. I think it was a mix of a song I know, and what I found first. It got into my Ipod and I kept it. I like keeping my song count to an even number, a multiple of 10 or 5 most often. (I don’t have OCD, I can’t explain it.)

  4. Thou Shalt always kill - Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip – This was on a myspace page and I would have not given it a second thought, except for the fact that it started out like a “chiptune” from the 8 bit Nintendo system. I love video game music (Not technically in my Ipod though.) The lyrics are a decidedly U.K. take on US consumerism. Great insight and rare humor.

  5. In the mood - Glenn Miller – I’m 26. This song for better or for worse is the “go to” song that I think of when I think about my Grandparents. I have heard the song so many times, that, frankly I know when I am missing it. – That is to say, there is the rare moment when I’m in the mood for In The Mood. (Heh.)

  6. Four Seasons - Vivaldi (Yes, I know it’s 4 pieces) I know that Classical music is supposed to be “Good”. I think Vivaldi taps into my love for New Age. (Music that is WELL connected, and not beating you over the head with beats, or lyrics.)

  7. Take Five - Dave Brubeck In much the same way as Miller or Vivaldi, I also have Brubeck. If you don’t listen to Jazz, I am willing to bet that Take Five is the first song that comes to your mind when you think Jazz. [I might get flamed, but I think the status Take Five has with “Jazz” can not be denied.]
    – I also have Right Now from Mocean Worker
