List the movies that truly define you

Horror: Halloween
Comedy: (tie) Withnail and I and Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Suspence: Assault On Precinct 13
Drama: Well, hell. I came up with a list of a bunch of brilliant movies that I’m fond of, but none of them seem to be particularly defining… so, out of the hat comes …Unforgiven.…or maybe* The Limey* or* Cool Hand Luke* or One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest or The Godfather or…
Chick Flick: The Princess Bride

and the rest…

Adventure: Raiders of the Lost Ark
Musical Comedy: Does Spinal Tap count?
Action: Return of the Dragon
Kid Movie: (tie) The Nightmare Before Christmas and The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T

If one movie had to be picked as the one that defines me it would have to be Say Anything. I associate with so many different characters in that movie, it’s scary.

“Joe lies. Joe liiies. Joe lies, when he cries.”

Damn you, neofishboy! Okay, if we’re including holiday television specials, I’m changing my defining Animated Film pick to The Grinch That Stole Christmas, just edging out A Wish For Wings That Work. You go Opus, with yer bad, flightless self.

Yellow Submarine
A Clockwork Orange
Pi

I have no idea what categories any of those would go in. If I had to choose any ‘chick flicks,’ it’d probably be either Jane Eyre or Sense and Sensibility. But neither of those would ‘define’ me the way the other three do. I don’t watch horror movies so I don’t really have any choices in that genre.

I could probably include Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory too. I am a strange individual.

Horror: The Black Hole - Admittedly not a great film. After I saw it in first grade, though, I remembered it as if it were a good piece of cinema. The threat of losing your free will, and the ultimate sadness of man’s place in the universe, are great themes. Plus the images from the film were imprinted permanently in my skull, long before I saw how badly the film was handled. I think that if only it weren’t a Disney product, it would be a great candidate for a remake.

Comedy: Dr Strangelove - Warning: this is life.

Suspense: Memento - I never saw the world the same way again.

Drama: Drowning by Numbers - A very accurate test of a relationship is to watch this with anybody I’m dating. If she falls asleep, the relationship has never worked out (no, not just because I like this film and she doesn’t). More successful relationships have always been with women who like this movie.

Chick Flick: Thelma and Louise - Why can’t we all just get along and say that this is a movie about rebellion and the price of freedom more than a political manifesto for women?

Kids (live axe): Don’t like films that are marketed to kids.

Animated: There’s a short film in the Aeon Flux series called “War.” Just see it.

Musical: Moulin Rouge. Don’t you dare call it a chick flick

…and besides, it’s Beneath The Valley of the Ultra Vixens.

Heathens. :stuck_out_tongue:

Neofishboy- You know, I didn’t think anyone would catch that…

Horror: April Fool’s

Comedy: If Lucy Fell

Suspense: The Game

Drama: The Double Life of Veronique

Chick Flick: The Double Life of Veronique

Perhaps even a “scarier” question might be to name a tv show that defines you. For me it would have to be, Northern Exposure.
